Summer Activities for Kids Ages 6-9
Scales and Scutes
Turtles, gators, and lizards, oh my! In this class, your kids will be able to interact with some of Kiawah’s most unique wildlife up close and personal. This is a great way to introduce your children to wild animals.
Swimming Lessons
There is no age limit when it comes to learning how to swim! Check out swimming lessons on the Island for a fun way to teach good water habits.
Kid Zone
The Sports Pavilion transforms into a “Kids-Only Club” in the evenings where kids can let loose and play field games, ping pong, dodgeball, and laser tag, and a rotating canon of activities to keep them excited.
A Kiawah Owner Exclusive: The Sandcastle
A family pool and oceanfront pool at The Sandcastle means the opportunities for a fun pool day are endless. At the end of the day, gather your family at the Castle Grille and Sandbar for a delicious meal together.
Summer Activities for Kids Ages 10-12
Naturalist Program
Little ones with an interest in nature and animals will love Kiawah’s Junior Naturalist Program. Four separate classes offer a different focus, these include animal care, marsh ecology, maritime adventures, and bugs and birds. Kids who complete all four classes are given the official title of “Junior Naturalist”.
Golfing
Let your child bring out their inner young golfer and teach them how to golf. Choose from one of Kiawah’s five public — or two private — golf courses to play at. Or, sign them up for golf lessons to learn the game from a pro.
Tennis
Tennis lessons are a great way for your kids to learn the basics of tennis. With over 20 courts dotted across Kiawah Island, tennis is one of the best summer activities for kids.
A Kiawah Owner Exclusive: The Beach Club
Spend a pool day at the newly renovated Beach Club. Three pools overlooking the sea provide parents with a relaxing afternoon while the kids splash around and swim with friends.
Summer Activities for Kids Ages 13-15
Bonfire Night
Your teen will have an incredible time making new friends at bonfire night held in Night Heron Park. Roasting marshmallows and the latest hits make for a fun time they won’t forget!
Ocean Seining Tours
Do your kids have an interest in sea critters? An ocean seining tour will let them discover marine life first hand as they comb the beach and help pull a seine net through the surf.
Kayaking and Paddleboarding
Drop your kids off at the beach for a sun-filled day on the water. This is a great way to let them burn off energy while learning to appreciate the natural beauty of the Island. Kayaking and paddle boarding are by far the most popular summer activities for kids.
Archery Tag
Similar to laser tag, active kids can play a friendly game of tag while perfecting their archery skills. This fast-paced game is exciting and will quickly become their new favorite.
A Kiawah Owner Exclusive: The Sporting Club
The Sporting Club is a 885-acre plantation that offers all sorts of outdoor summer activities for kids. Sporting clays are a fun tradition popular across the South. Private instruction is available for every age and skill level, so you can try your hand at shooting, too!
Summer Activities for Older Teens
Aqua Yoga
Teach your teen the importance of physical activity by enrolling them in aqua yoga. This class is held in a heated pool for a comfortable experience and teaches balance and strength.
Nature Photography
Shutterbugs will go wild for this tour. Exploring the Island and seeing it through their own eyes is an invaluable adventure for a young adult. Give them the opportunity to capture the Island’s beauty through their perspective with this photography course. Then, frame their best photos as a special memento!
Spend a Day Together
Connecting with teens can be hard to do, so plan a special day and head out for some shopping at Freshfields Village and pick up a picnic to enjoy outside. If your teen is a bit of a thrill-seeker, go fishing together with the pros and see what you can catch.
A Kiawah Owner Exclusive: The Sasanqua Spa
Connect with your teen and bond over a relaxing trip to the Sasanqua Spa. Not only do adults benefit from a rejuvenating spa day, but so do young adults trying their best to navigate this difficult stage of life. Unwind and enjoy each other’s company as you get pampered at a world-class spa.
