INDEPENDENCE DAY, ISLAND STYLE
Club Members Celebrate The Fourth—By Land and By Sea
Last week, Americans from sea to shining sea celebrated the nation’s birthday with all the spirit and revelry the holiday deserves. Backyards across the United States played host to lively barbecues, parks filled with picnicking families, and the evening skies exploded in dazzling color from coast-to-coast. Not to be outdone, Kiawah residents trumpeted the joy of Independence Day with two events Club Members have been enjoying for years. From the driving range at Cassique to the sandy shoreline of The Beach Club, America’s 243rd birthday was celebrated in grand style. “Holidays are always a time for families and friends to come together on Kiawah,” says Chris Drury, President at Kiawah Island Real Estate, adding, “but our Fourth of July celebration is a clear favorite.”
The festivities began on the eve of the holiday, July 3rd, at Cassique. As dusk set in across the fairways, families, and friends gathered at the driving range for the Kiawah Island Club’s Annual Independence Day Extravaganza. Although the day had been peppered with rain showers, Members brought a sunny spirit to an evening of spirited activity. Children thrilled to carnival games, a jump castle, and colorful face painting (a butterfly design across the cheeks was an evident favorite). Balloons were twisted and bent into masterful recreations of dogs, giraffes, and other crowd-pleasing creatures.
