Although Kiawah’s idyllic coast allows residents to enjoy summer-like temperatures well into autumn, there’s still something particularly enchanting about this time of year on the Island. Maybe it’s the beauty of the leaves changing into shades of burnt orange, bold red, and rustic brown, or perhaps it’s the way a fall breeze feels against your skin — but there’s no denying this new season is an exciting time for many.

While there are many ways to welcome the fall season on Kiawah Island, this is especially true for Kiawah Island Club Members. From exclusive amenities, dining experiences, events, and more, being a Member of the Kiawah Island Club provides an abundance of opportunities for entertainment.

1. Drink and be Merry at Oktoberfest

When: October 3 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm

Where: Marsh House

Cost: $75+ per Member; $90 per guest

Originally held in Germany, Oktoberfest is a popular festival celebrated around the world. This year, Club Members can experience all the fun and excitement of Oktoberfest without having to leave the Island. The event will feature a food truck, as well as family-friendly activities including kids’ tattoos, photo booths, live music, and more. And, of course, there will also be plenty of delicious German cuisine and beer to enjoy while you raise a toast to fall.

2. Express Your Creativity

When: October 6 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm

Where: River Course

Cost: $75

Painting is a great way to express your creativity and unwind after a long day. This fall, channel your inner Picasso and join local artist Betsy Douglas as she leads a 90-minute watercolor workshop. Betsy will teach the basic watercolor techniques and guide participants through the entire process of capturing a still life from start to finish. Each participant will go home with a 9×12 watercolor they painted themselves — and possibly even a new hobby. 

3. Compete at the Fun Flurry Shoot

When: October 9 from 9:30 to 11:00 am

Where: Kiawah Island Sporting Club

Cost: Regular Sporting Club rate

Kick-off your weekend with a morning flurry shoot at the Kiawah Island Sporting Club. During this fun and fast-paced game, four participants simultaneously shoot at targets thrown in a random combination on a five-stand course. This action-packed activity is guaranteed to make for an exciting fall event on Kiawah Island. Reload as fast as you can and let the shells fly!

4. Grill Out With Ted’s Butcherblock

When: October 11 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm

Where: The Beach Club

Cost: $70+

While many people often associate grilling with the summertime, Kiawah’s fall weather is ideal for cookouts. Ted Dombrowski, owner and primary butcher of Ted’s Butcherblock, will be on the Island to teach Club Members how to grill meat to perfection. This interactive lecture will be held at The Beach Club and is a great opportunity to expand your grilling skills while learning how to prepare the best-tasting meats on the Island.

5. Discover Your New Favorite Wine

When: October 12 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm

Where: Marsh House

Cost: $45+

Fall is the perfect time to swap out crisp white wines for a bolder glass of red — and if you don’t know where to begin, a wine tasting is a great place to start. Spend your evening tasting an assortment of rich and earthy wines that will pair perfectly with any autumn day. Sip on a variety of fall-inspired flavors, such as tart berries, warm vanilla, savory spices, and hints of brown sugar while you take in all the beauty that surrounds you. The event will be led by Azura Tirozzi of the Country Vintner and includes a wine tasting, as well as light hors d’oeuvres. 

6. Get a Taste of Kiawah’s Culinary Excellence

When: October 14 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm

Where: Cassique and River Course

Cost: $178 per participant 

Join us this fall for our inaugural Kiawah Island Progressive Dinner! Participants will travel around the Island, stopping at various Club restaurants along the way and enjoying a fun-filled night of appetizers, dinner, dessert, and cocktails. The evening will begin at Cassique’s newest amenity, The Living Room, where Members will indulge in appetizers and drinks. For the main course, simply travel up the stairs to Voysey’s for a handcrafted dinner menu. Finish your evening at B-Liner to enjoy a specialty dessert and cocktail.

7. Spend a Night on the Course

When: October 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm

Where: Cassique

Cost: $70 per person

Just because the sun has set doesn’t mean you need to stop golfing! Soak up the starry night sky and blissful fall weather while you chip away on our gorgeous Cassique golf course. Witness Cassique transform into a Par-3, glow-in-the-dark course, complete with illuminated tee markers, fairways, greens, and flagsticks. Not many Kiawah residents can say they’ve played on one of our award-winning golf courses underneath the stars — but our Club Members can!   

8. Mingle With Fellow Members

When: October 29 from 9:00 to 11:00 am and 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

Where: The Sports Pavilion

Cost: Complimentary  

Mingling with other like-minded Members is one of the many perks of joining the exclusive Kiawah Island Club. This fall, the Club will be hosting two social events: one for tennis and another for pickleball. Whether you are new to the games or have been playing for years, come out and have a great time while you meet fellow Club Members and practice your swing. A light lunch will be served after both of these events, so you can reward yourself after working up a sweat.
