Celebrating the Natural “Art” in Design
Hart Howerton Architects bring expertise garnered across 6 continents and 51 countries to the styling of The Cape Club. Acclaimed for the grace found in every design and for their unobtrusive work in natural settings, the firm will elevate the shoreline with its artful, effortless aesthetic. When complete, the expansive venue will welcome Members and their guests with an ocean-front infinity-edge pool; well-appointed sundecks; al fresco bar and grill; a state-of-the-art fitness center; and changing rooms with open-air showers. In addition, beach service and recreational gear will be available and Members will have access to a duet of two-bedroom cottages.
Internationally recognized interior designer, Cortney Bishop, crafts a fresh and different visual experience at The Cape Club. She draws her “Kiawah safari” inspiration from the natural beauty of the Island along with a rustic safari vibe and color palette that complements the landscape–the green hues of the ocean and the orange and pink in the sunsets.

Cape Cuisine
Mike Lata, winner of the James Beard Foundation’s Award for Best Chef: Southeast and Chef and Co-Owner of lauded Charleston culinary mainstays, FIG and The Ordinary, will be behind The Cape Club’s menu concept. Lata was an instrumental part of the concept and delivery of The Beach Club’s perpetual hotspot, B-Liner, which has reimagined the Club experience since it opened in 2019. Chef Lata is bringing his expertise to craft the west-end beach club’s dining experience. The menu is inspired by coastal Mexican cuisine–think fish tacos and fresh salsas–highlighting bright, simple, and flavorful cuisine that allows fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to shine.
The Cottages
The Cape will have two two-bedroom cottages on the east side of the pool deck. These cottages will be available for rent by Club Members and their guests and will provide some of the most picturesque views on Kiawah. Aligned with The Cape Club’s design, Cortney Bishop utilizes a similar rustic safari motif in the cottages, incorporating various textures and stained woods, and an interior palette that’s organic with greens and light coastal beach colors.
